Volunteer to help with Urban Hands, Aug. 7-13

Urban Hands is a weeklong summer camp for teenagers from different neighborhoods, schools, and denominations. It is an opportunity for youth to worship and work alongside their peers. During the day they are sent out in teams to serve various marginalized communities in Washington DC. Service projects include helping at summer camps for at-risk children, volunteering at homeless shelters, gardening for elderly citizens or at community parks, and much more. These opportunities compel the youth that participate to commit their lives to walk humbly with God and compel them to greater services of love and justice. In the evenings the youth gather for worship and teaching.

This year Urban Hands will run from August 7-August 13th at Washington Community Fellowship.
There are still several opportunities to volunteer & we’d love to help you get involved in the community.

Needed Volunteer Positions
:

1) Breakfast/Lunch Volunteers: (6:30-8:00 am) You would be responsible for setting out all of the breakfast food for breakfast starting and also preparing and packing all of the lunches for the youth to take to the service projects. “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”(2 Thess. 3:10) So then if they are working hard they should get some grub! Help keep the tired, hungry workers fed! You can help out once or every day.

2) Shower Drivers: (3-5 pm): We need driver volunteers to transport groups of youth to and from WCF and the pool where they will be showering. This requires that you have a car available to use. “For we are to God the aroma of Christ”(2 Cor. 2:15) and hopefully not an aroma of anything else! Help be the reason all the teens can get cleaned up before dinner. You can help out once or every day.

3) Evening Dinner Donors: (6:30-8pm): “Jesus replied, ‘You give them something to eat.’” So please be encouraged to gather together your small group or some friends to plan, purchase, prepare and serve a meal for one night of Urban Hands.

Email Monique for more information or to get involved.
