Retreat 2013 slider

Anxiety is killing us. Sometimes anxiety manifests as overwork, as we worry about achievement or influence or money. Other times anxiety leads to procrastination, out of worrying about offending or disappointing others. Anxiety can also appear as depression, whenever we fear a future of broken dreams or unmet expectations. Anxiety is at the bottom of many broken relationships, as insecurities have torn friends and family apart. Whether you’re afraid of the dark, worried about your kids, obsessed with your appearance, or simply worn out from the nonstop pace, chances are that anxiety is the root of many of your evils.

Paul teaches the Philippians to be free from anxiety and find the peace of God through prayer (Phil 4:6-7). But this is easier said than done. We need help establishing the liturgies of life: healthy rhythms for prayer, work, rest and worship, rhythms that center us in The Peace of God. That’s what we’ll be learning and practicing together this year at the Annual Parish Retreat.
