Children and Youth on Sundays
“Let the children come to me," Jesus said. "Do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:14) Jesus welcomed children to himself; as his church, we seek to do the same. We work together to engage the hearts and minds of our children and nurture them as Jesus' disciples.
We prioritize children’s presence and participation in worship each week. Children 3-11 years old may remain with their parents or attend age-appropriate worship during portions of both Sunday services. Nursery is provided for children 2 and under.
Children’s Chapel (ages 3-11) is a formative time in which children are taught to be “little worshipers.” The sacred stories of God's word, told from generation to generation, are our primary source for experiencing and knowing God. We teach children these stories with props and figures in order to engage their senses and imagination, so that they see themselves as participants in God's story.
All children’s ministry volunteers have undergone a thorough application and screening process which includes reference and background checks, training, and a church attendance requirement.
Youth (ages 11- 18) remain with the adults throughout our services (and meet together outside of worship monthly on Friday evenings). Liturgical worship is formative for everyone, including youth. Singing, praying, hearing God's Word, and feasting at his table alongside believing adults nurtures their faith. Youth are also encouraged to participate in the worship service through serving, whether as a greeter, on the music team, or as a children’s ministry helper.
