Children and Youth on Sundays

“Let the children come to me," Jesus said. "Do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). Jesus welcomed children to himself; as his church, we seek to do the same. We work together to engage the hearts and minds of our children and nurture them as Jesus' disciples.

We prioritize children’s presence and participation in worship each week. Nursery and Toddler programming is provided for infants ages 6 months to 3 years. Children PREK3 through 5th grade may remain with their parents or attend age-appropriate worship during portions of both Sunday services.

Children’s Chapel (grades PREK 3 to 5th grade) is a formative time in which children are taught to be “little worshipers.” The sacred stories of God's word, told from generation to generation, are our primary source for experiencing and knowing God. We teach children these stories with props and figures in order to engage their senses and imagination so that they see themselves as participants in God's story.

In addition, children in 6th through 8th grade are invited to attend Sunday School on the first Sunday of the month (evening service only). The preteen curriculum focuses on biblical literacy and prayer.

The safety of every child who comes through the doors of our church and who participates in any aspect of our children’s ministry is of the utmost importance to us. For this reason, all children’s ministry volunteers have undergone a thorough application and screening process which includes reference and background checks, training, and a church attendance requirement.

Infants and toddlers can be checked in and dropped off in the nursery before the service begins. Older children are dismissed for Children’s Chapel and Sunday School at the Children’s Collect. Infants and toddlers are picked up later in the service during the Passing of the Peace while older children are led by their teachers back to the sanctuary at this time.

Check-in for Children’s Ministries is available 30 minutes prior to both services at the Welcome Table.

Parents will sign in their child and receive matching wristbands. The wristbands have matching alphanumeric codes for parents to present at pick-up and help our volunteers quickly ensure that each child has been signed in. Parents, please be sure to do the following:

  • Check in your children before the service starts.
  • Bring your alphanumeric wristband with you when you pick up your child.

To allow our volunteers to participate in the Eucharist, we ask that parents promptly pick up their children during the Passing of the Peace.
