People of Promise: Abraham’s Call
Who are my people? To whom do I belong? These are urgent questions almost everyone is asking. Many of us are transplants to DC, wondering whether this is our place and our people. It’s common to feel pulled in opposite directions, simultaneously longing to plant deeper roots here and also to move on – or home. Everywhere across the country, alienation drives unrest and further division, as we all yearn to belong.
Abraham’s story speaks to this yearning. Indeed, our search for belonging points us to God and an epic story that begins with Abraham and leads to the Messiah, Jesus. Who are we? To whom do we belong? We are God’s people living in God’s land under God’s promise.
