Dan 2025

RECTOR

The Rev. Dan Claire

Dan originally began his career as a research scientist, attending college and medical school in Florida. After transitioning into vocational ministry, he studied biblical theology and languages. He and his wife, Elise, moved to Washington in the 1990's to help establish a theological seminary in the area. The Church of the Resurrection began in their home in 2002. The Claires have five children, all born and raised in Washington.

Sulmane 2025

ASSOCIATE RECTOR

The Rev. Sulmane Maigadi

Sulmane and his wife Miriam are natives of Nigeria who moved to DC and joined church of the Resurrection in 2017.  Sulmane studied theology at ECWA Theological Seminary and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.  He has served as a Bible teacher and mentor and has discipled young adults in various ministry settings.  He especially enjoys listening to and helping others navigate their struggles and deepen their faith.  When he’s not working, Sulmane likes to read, write scripts, connect with people, and drink zobo.

Andrew 2025

EXECUTIVE PASTOR

The Rev. Andrew Evans

After graduating from Davidson College, where he studied political theory, Andrew moved to Washington, DC. He married Stefanie in 2014, and together they lived in Rwanda, Belgium, and London before returning to Washington in 2017. Andrew worked as a reporter, editor, and press secretary before entering seminary full-time. He and his wife are the parents of two children.

Tinbit 2025

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

Tinbit Alemayehu

Tinbit (tin-beat) was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is fluent in Amharic, French, and English. She moved to the U.S. in 2011 to study digital communications at the University of Baltimore. After working as a freelance graphic designer and running digital media and communications for two churches, Tinbit brought her skills, and her passion for Christian ministry, to Rez in 2019.

Emily 2025

DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Emily Alianello

Emily, along with her husband Joey and daughter Livvie, have been part of Rez since 2021. Emily brings a wealth of educational, organizational, and ministry experience to this role. Her academic training is in theology, history and literature. She has taught at multiple levels, received child development training, and organized and managed others. She also has been active widely in the life of our church: hosting a RezGroup, helping lead the Women’s Ministry, and serving as a Stephen Minister, all on top of being a stalwart teacher in the Children’s Ministry.

DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP ARTS

Miriam Maigadi

Miriam brings tremendous musical gifting and experience across a range of genres and disciplines, along with a deep understanding of Rez’s own musical culture and trajectory. Miriam is already a regular and beloved vocalist, pianist, choral director, and ensemble leader at Rez. We’re thrilled that she shares our sense of God’s call for her to oversee music and arts within our church.

DIRECTOR OF WOMEN'S CARE

The Rev. Lou Bayly Mahr

Lou Bayly and her husband Bill have been members of Resurrection since 2006, after moving to DC to host a hospitality house in Georgetown for university students. She is the mother of three grown children and a growing number of grandchildren. Lou Bayly loves discovering new things with her grandchildren, talking about life at her kitchen table, and working in her rock garden.

The Rev. Matt Luecke

Born in St. Louis, Matt grew up in the midwest and California. With degrees from Stanford, Chicago, and Fuller Seminary, Matt settled into DC's Eckington neighborhood in 2001 and took a job at the Federal Reserve, where he continues to work. He is married to Dawn, with whom he shares a passion for building and living in intentional community. They have three children. Matt loves to explore life and faith at the intersection of work, economics, and vocation.

UNIVERSITY MINISTRIES

The Rev. Jim Hagan

Born and raised in metro Washington, Jim first became involved in church planting and campus ministry in the city in the 1980s. It was in this context that Jim met and married Betsy. They raised their first three children in Northern Virginia. After joining Rez as charter members, they returned to DC in 2007 with their youngest son. Jim is a graduate of George Mason and Reformed Seminary and works with the Coalition for Christian Outreach.

LAY LEADERSHIP

Within the Anglican tradition, the parish council is the governing board of a local congregation. Resurrection's Parish Council is comprised of ten lay leaders and the rector. Lay members are elected during the annual members’ meeting to represent the larger membership of the church. Lay members serve rotating two-year terms. Resurrection’s Parish Council manages the church’s property and finances to support the vision and mission of the congregation.
