Want an opportunity for some more teaching, prayer, and community, plus the best breakfast you’ll eat in any given week? Our first discipleship academy group have just graduated. So, we are recruiting a new group, to start in January, meeting on Tuesday mornings, 7-8.30am at the church office. Take a look at the information below, and if you’re interested in signing up, or have any further questions, please contact Matthew Mason: mmason [at] rezchurch [dot] org
WHAT IS IT?
Discipleship Academy aims to grow faithful disciples of Jesus and godly leaders within the body of Christ. It does this by equipping us to sink deep roots into the gospel and key aspects of Christian practice. This happens in community and in the context of praying together and serving one another.
Discipleship Academy is a weekly, pastor-led gathering of 12 men and women. The course is divided into five six-week modules, spread over the course of a year. At the end of each module, participants join together for a celebratory feast. The modules, and dates, are:
Epiphany (Jan 10-Feb 14)Believing the Gospel: The Apostles’ Creed
Lent (Feb 28-Apr 3) Resurrection Talk
Easter (May 1-June 5) God’s Master Plan: Bible Overview
Ordinary Time (Sep 4-Oct 9) The Christian Life: The Lord’s Prayer
All Saints (Oct 23-Dec 4) Read Mark Learn: Mark 1-8
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Participants must commit to attending and participating in all five modules faithfully over the course of a year. They must agree to a simple rule of life involving weekly worship, daily Bible reading and prayer, and some type of Lenten fast, to be explained during initial Academy sessions. They must agree that the purpose of the academy is for equipping future leaders within the body of Christ, and seek opportunities for service as the Lord leads.
