Discipleship Academy

Learn. Grow. Feast. Serve

“Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:6-7)

WHAT IS IT?

Discipleship Academy aims to grow faithful disciples of Jesus and godly leaders within the body of Christ. It does this by equipping us to sink deep roots into the gospel and key aspects of Christian practice. This happens in community and in the context of praying together and serving one another.

Discipleship Academy is a weekly, pastor-led gathering of 12 men and women. There are five six-week modules over the course of a year. At the end of each module, participants join together for a celebratory feast.  The modules are:

Believing the Gospel: The Apostles’ Creed, taught by Matthew Mason

Resurrection Talk, taught by Aaron Damiani

God’s Master Plan: Bible Overview, taught by Blake Johnson of Church of the Advent

The Christian Life: The Lord’s Prayer, taught by Dan Claire

Bible Study: 1 Peter, taught by Matthew Mason

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Participants must commit to attending and participating in all five modules faithfully over the course of a year. They must agree to a simple rule of life involving weekly worship, daily Bible reading & prayer, and some type of Lenten fast, to be explained during initial Academy sessions. They must agree that the purpose of the academy is for equipping future leaders within the body of Christ, and seek opportunities for service as the Lord leads.

HOW DO I JOIN?

There is a new group starting in September, on Thursday evenings, 7.30-9pm at the Church Office. If you are interested in joining, or to find out more, contact Matthew Mason (mmason [at] rezchurch [dot] org)
