Global Partnerships & Missions
Rwanda Group
The Resurrection family of churches (Resurrection, Advent & Ascension) are missions of the Anglican Church of Rwanda to the United States. As such we are particularly connected to the nation of Rwanda. Our churches together are in partnership with a sister church in Nyagatare (Gahini Diocese), Rwanda. The Rwanda Group facilitates our collaboration in ministry through a dynamic partnership, in which relationship is prioritized over projects. For more information, contact John at info (at) rezchurch.org.
International Missions Group
Our International Missions Group (IMG) aims to facilitate the sharing of the Gospel in a cross-cultural context, support members of our congregation who have a passion for international service, and care for the envoys who have been sent overseas by the Resurrection family of churches. For more information, contact John Hart at info (at) rezchurch.org
Religious Freedom Group
The Religious Freedom Group exists to serve the persecuted church by providing a place of fellowship for religious freedom advocates and academics from the Resurrection family of churches. It also encourages concern and prayer in our churches and hopefully in others for the persecuted church. The RFG also works to build relationships with members of the body of Christ who suffer or have suffered persecution. For more information, contact Judd at RFC (at) rezchurch.org
Barnabas Teams
Barnabas Teams are small groups of 3-5 persons who are committed to working together in order to support and encourage the international envoys from the Resurrection family of churches. They help ensure that no one who is sent from our churches is somehow neglected or forgotten. In a transient city like Washington, DC, this kind of ongoing care is essential for the long-term success of those whom we send out in service around the world. It also demonstrates our own commitment to honor those whom the Lord calls to serve him in this way.
In the early church, Barnabas was an advocate for Paul following his conversion to Christianity (Acts 9:27; 11:22-26). Barnabas served as a key partner in ministry whose very name, “son of encouragement,” testifies to the nature of his support. Today, he serves as the inspiration for our Barnabas Teams.
Some of the tangible ways in which Barnabas Teams provide support for our envoys include: prayer, assistance in fundraising, friendship and communication. With the envoy, the Barnabas Team fosters an atmosphere of honesty which enables transparency with regard to needs and challenges. Barnabas Teams also serve the larger church community by keeping the congregation up to date on the life and activities of those whom we have sent. Church Planting
We currently support two church planting missions from the Church of the Resurrection. The Rev. Christian Hofreiter is completing a theological education program at Oxford so that he might lead a new church-planting team in Austria. Read his latest update here. The Rev. Mark Booker is initiating a new work in urban Boston. For more information on either of these initiatives, contact info (at) rezchurch.org.
