Housing (Available and Seeking)

7/28/2010 - CF Roommate Needed Immediately for Great Crystal City Apartment - $975 + utilities - Willing to consider short-term lease
Hi! I’m looking for a female roommate to share an awesome 2BR, 2BA apartment conveniently located in Crystal City right across from the Crystal City metro. My apartment is very large, bright, and airy, with its own washer/dryer and large balcony overlooking the courtyard and pool. The available room is a huge master bedroom with attached bath and tons and tons of closet space. The building’s amenities include a gorgeous outdoor pool, a great gym, and free parking.

I have lived in this apartment building since 2003, and I couldn’t be happier with the building or the location. It’s a very safe neighborhood, and you can literally walk to everything — Pentagon City mall, tons of restaurants (including the fabulous Jaleo and my favorite Lebanese Taverna), Borders, Best Buy, drugstores, the library. Plus, it’s super-convenient to D.C. — 10 minutes away by car or metro. I work on the Hill and really appreciate the easy commute!

Rent is $975 per month + utilities. I am looking for someone who is available to move in at the beginning of August or as soon as possible thereafter.  I am willing to consider both shorter and longer lease-terms.  For more information, contact Mary Katherine at mkascik(at)hotmail(dot)com. I look forward to talking to you!

7/28/2010 - $750/month- Room Available in Columbia Heights Apartment for any interested male, starting September 1
Two blocks from the Columbia Heights Metro, the development on 14th St, and in shouting distance of the Wonderland Ballroom, this is a wonderful location.

The apartment is on the second floor and has two bedrooms, a bath, a spacious living room (15×12), a kitchen, and a roof area that is well situated for grilling or simply hanging out in the evening. There is a washer/dryer and central heat and central air. You do not have to pay for water at this apartment. Also, all parking is street parking but you will not have a problem finding a space.

The room available is about the size of the living room and would be only $750/month. It has two closets and can easily hold a full size bed, two dressers, a desk, and a bookshelf with plenty of room left over.

I, your possible roommate, attend Church of the Advent, work for the DC Public Schools, and am about to begin the MSW program at Catholic. Shoot me an email, david.mauldin[AT]gmail(DOT)com if you are interested.

7/6/2010 - Christian community in Southeast DC looking for 1-2 new CF members
Our community has been in existence since 2007, and two people leaving, we are looking for a women with a similar vision to join us.  We moved in with a heart for the neighborhood and a developing vision for community and spiritual development. We’re located in a depressed urban area in southeast DC, where the poverty around us is both very real and somewhat invisible.

We are looking for someone who has a heart for the neighborhood and openness to each other.  We ask that any new member commit to spending one evening a week in the community for a shared meal and time of spiritual formation and would also look for new members to have an interest in the community and a commitment to prayer.  While we are not a particularly formalized community, we do share in the desire to encourage each other’s faith and hold each other accountable in Christ.

Moreover, we wish to be friends, to love and care for each other.  We want our home to be a place of peace and rest and joy, but allowing space for the pain and stress we carry.  We work to support and bless each other, even as we all have times where we are the one who needs to be supported and blessed.

As for practical details, our house has 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths.  We have two bedrooms coming available, one near the end of July, the other near the end of August.  Move-in day can be somewhat flexible.  When filled, there will be six people in the house (one room — not yours! — is shared).  You’ll share a bathroom with one other person.  We live about one mile from the blue/orange (Potomac Ave) and green lines (Anacostia), easily accessible by a short bus ride starting at the corner of our block.  The house is recently remodeled and in quite excellent shape.  Hardwood floors on the main level, carpet in the bedrooms (three up, two down).  Plenty of unzoned parking.  We now have a young cat in the house.  There’s a large deck overlooking our backyard garden and a fabulous front porch (great for meeting neighbors!).  Expenses — including rent, all groceries, high-speed internet, a security system, landline, and all utilities — cost $650 per person.  Available immediately, looking for a year-long commitment.

We’d love to talk further.  Please email Carrie at Carrie.burgett[AT]gmail(DOT)com.

6/10/2010 - Awesome 4BR House close to Barracks Row, Navy Yard, Eastern Market .. just across the river

I’m looking for some great tenants for a great house.  $2300 total, which includes utilities (gas, water, electric)
Have you been looking in Trinidad, H Street, Petworth, Bloomingdale, or other “up and coming” neighborhoods of DC but have been ignoring the potential greatness (and cost saving-ness) of living two seconds from Capitol Hill in the rising neighborhood of Historic Anacostia?
This fantastic 4 bedroom house (two and a half bathrooms) is recently renovated with really high quality finishes and has all the charm you’ve been looking for at the right price. Truly. You might be thinking “yeah right, I’d never live in Anacostia” .. but consider this. The house is three blocks from a new coffee shop (Big Chair Coffee), a new bar that’s opening this summer (Uniontown Bar & Grill), multiple awesome galleries, and is a ten to fifteen minute walk to the Metro station. Bus line to Eastern Market / Barracks Row is one block away. Yes! Organic Market opening this summer one mile away.
Backyard has a fire pit. Kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Skylights everywhere. Two full bathrooms and one half bath. Basement is finished as a master suite. Great neighbors.

6/10/2010 - CF looking for 1 or 2 other CFs to share townhome in Rockville area

Hi! I am moving from Kansas to Maryland in early July and looking to have a place by July 5-6 when I move all my furniture up there! I want to find a place that allows my monthly rent to be between 600-700/mo + utilities. I’m open to different apartments/townhomes in Rockville but love the residences at King Farm and if we had a 3br-2ba, it would be about $650/person + utilities. I am a fun, adventurous CF but also will have a full time job so my weeks will be busy and focused. Love to relax with wine and a movie and have good talks, but am very independent, so we would both live our own lives inside the same place, and enjoy each other’s company when they overlapped :) If this sounds like a good fit for you, please email or call me! halzeo(AT)gmail<DOT>com, 913-238-2903. Thanks!

6/10/2010 - Room available for CF by Union Station - August 1, $750/month

My roommates and I have a room opening in our Capitol Hill row house on August 1.  The house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a washer/dryer, a killer fenced-in backyard and patio, and is located on 3rd and E Northeast.  This location is a five minute walk from the metro entrance at Union Station, and just around the corner from Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse and a whole slew of restaurants on Massachusetts.  Bus is also on the D6 bus line, and a short walk from Barracks Row, H Street, and Eastern Market.

In the house are three women in our mid-twenties.  One works on the Hill, another in government relations, and another for a university.  We are all good friends and hang out frequently, so we’d want someone who wants a community.  However, we all also have our own things, so it would be great for you to have an active life as well.  We love having friends over to grill out, watch tv and hang out; we love having a strong sense of community.

Rent is $750 per month plus ¼ of utilities which will run no more than $100 per person on a high month (including gas, pepco, Comcast, water).  You must be willing to be added onto our lease which will expire in April of 2011 with the option to renew (which we anticipate doing).

If you have questions or are interested in taking a look, please email Lindsey at lindseyaparker(AT)gmail<DOT>com.
