Housing (Available and Seeking)
02/12/10 - CM Wanted for Columbia Heights Apt - $750/mo.
Starting on March 1st I will have a room open in my two bedroom apartment in Columbia Heights (3002 11th St NW). For $750/month you get a very spacious room with two closets and hardwood floors, free cable and internet, and an apartment two blocks away from Target, Best Buy, tons of restaurants, and the Columbia Heights Metro. Also, there is no water bill for this place, only an electric bill that runs between $30-80/month per person depending on the weather and Pepco’s mood.
A very brief note about me: I’m 27, currently work for the DC Public Schools and am getting a Masters of Conflict Resolution at AU. I attend Church of the Advent in Columbia Heights and am trying to improve my cooking skills to impress my girlfriend (so if you also have any tips please let me know)! If you are interested in seeing the place, shoot me an email and we can meet.
All the best,
David <david.mauldin at gmail dot com>
02/12/10 -Basement apt in Columbia Heights - $1080/mo.
We are looking to fill our house’s basement apartment at the end of
March-beginning of April. The space is a studio apartment with its own
bathroom and kitchen, front door exit, closet, and small storage
area. Amenities include central A/C and washer/dryer. This cozy space is
good for someone living alone, a married couple, or good friends who are
comfortable sharing. Men or women welcome.
Location is great, right off of 14th street NW, a three block walk from the
Columbia Heights metro, and a three block walk to all of the major bus lines
that run down 16th Street. We are also less than a block away from a Giant
grocery store, and one block from the Target store complex (Target, Bed Bath
and Beyond, Marshall’s, Best Buy, Washington Sports Club, and more). We’re
also four blocks from Church of the Advent and within walking distance
of Meridian Hill Park, Rock Creek Park, Mt. Pleasant, and Adams Morgan.
The apartment is self-contained, but four friendly girls live upstairs, and
you are welcome to hang out/make use of the upstairs living room area as
well.
Rent is $1080/month plus $50-60/month in utilities (includes wireless). The
current lease on the house is up at the end of May, but we’d prefer someone
who’s willing to commit to signing next year’s lease, which would end May
31, 2011.
Contact Stacey at spistritto AT gmail DOT com if you’d like to hear more. Thanks!

02/12/10 -2 CFs wanted for Anacostia Rowhome - $700/mo.
I am looking for 2 CFs to live in a beautiful, newly-renovated row house in Anacostia. It is 5 minutes by car to Capitol Hill & Eastern Market, and is located on a lovely, calm street with friendly neighbors. Rent is $700 including utilities (including cable, internet, and a security system, in addition to all the normal stuff). I am hoping to find women who are excited about living in this particular neighborhood, and being a part of it (as I am).
As for the house itself: There’s a great kitchen with brand-new, stainless-steel appliances and granite countertops (It’s a wonderful place to cook, and looks into the dining room – so it’ll be perfect for entertaining). There’s a finished basement, washer/dryer on the 2nd floor, a back sun-room, and more. All floors are hard-wood, except for the bedrooms and basement, which have new carpeting. The house is on the end of the row, so it has many windows and quite a bit of natural light. I have much of the furniture that is needed (except for the bedrooms), but could find room for more.
I am a professional, Christian woman who enjoys my family and friends and attends Grace DC Church. I am excited about creating a warm and lovely home that is a good space for relaxing and for having guests over. I want this house to be a blessing to those that live in it as well as to the neighborhood around it.
Please email me and I’d be happy to tell you more about the house and myself.

6/24/09: Affordable Housing/Ministry Opportunity for CF
Open Arms Housing (http://www.openarmshousing.org/) recently completed renovations of the Dunbar building, which will be permanent supportive housing for women who have experienced years of homelessness. The building contains 16 efficiency apartments for previously homeless women, along with 3 brand new 1-bedroom apartments: 1housing the Resident Monitor, and 2 being leased at affordable rates. The apartments are bright, nice sized, and did I mention, brand new???
Open Arms is looking for a renter for the final one-bedroom apartment, and I have a particular stake into who moves into the apartment, because I will be living there too! I will be moving into one of the 1-bedroom apartments on August 1 and am really excited about the opportunity to live and build relationships with the women – as well as praying for the opportunity to do arts ministry (my passion) in the future. This is being posted on Craigslist as well, but I would really love for there to be another Christian female to be my partner in ministry.
The details: Rent – Originally $750 – bumped down to $650/month (plus utilities) in exchange for being “on duty” one night a week and every other Sunday morning (while the Resident Monitor is in class/church). Location: 57 O Street, NW.
If you are interested in the great live-in ministry opportunity, or have any questions, please contact me. Prayers are also MUCH needed and appreciated!
