Prayer
The Church of the Resurrection is a community of prayer. There are many different types of prayer, but any act of prayer fundamentally expresses our dependence upon God and functions as an appeal to and acknowledgment of His power and our inherent weakness. You can read more about the basic types of prayer here.
Corporate prayer occurs each week as an integral part of our worship service. From prayers of praise through the Psalms, to the weekly Collect, to our intercession and thanksgiving during the Prayers of the People, we are praying - addressing God - throughout our worship service.
In addition to our weekly worship service, opportunities to gather together as a community for prayer include the following:
- Pre-service prayer from 4.00-4.45 downstairs at the church
- RezGroups, where prayer functions as a vital part of the life of the group
- Monthly prayer gatherings, typically on Saturday nights
- Quarterly prayer gatherings with other churches in the city, also on Saturday nights
The following are more specific times to receive prayer in the life of our community:
- Prayer teams available to pray with you during Communion in our worship service
- Submitting a prayer request on the blue sheet insert in the bulletin - this will be prayed for throughout the week by people in the church
- Attending a RezGroup where we regularly pray for one another
- Setting up a time with the pastors to receive prayer for specific issues
