Children’s Ministry on Sunday Evenings
The Church of the Resurrection welcomes you and your little ones! As a church, we work together to engage the hearts & minds of our children and nurture them in Christian discipleship.
On Sunday evenings when we gather for worship, our children join with the adults at the beginning of the service in prayer and praise. Prior to the sermon, we pray for the children and then dismiss those 10 and younger for a short chapel service of their own downstairs, followed by Sunday School. During Sunday School, the preschoolers are in one class, and the elementary aged children are in the other. In these age-appropriate settings, they hear (or read!) a lesson, discuss it, learn a memory verse, and create a craft that will be theirs to remind them of the message they learned. Oh, and they share a snack together, of course!
The children return upstairs as the congregation is passing the peace and remain with their families during holy communion and for the duration of the service. Youth ages 11 and older stay with their families throughout the service.
In addition to the Sunday School program, we also have nursery care for those younger than preschool. The nursery opens at 4:45 PM, and parents are asked to sign in their child and discuss any pertinent details with the nursery workers. Your child is welcome to stay in the nursery for the duration of the service, though many parents choose to pick their child up at the peace so that the family can share in the meal of Holy Communion together.
Families are also invited to join in a simple dinner following the service so that kids can get to bed shortly after returning home.
All of our children’s ministry volunteers have attended training, completed an application and agreed to a code of ethics for our children’s ministry. Your kids will be well cared for!
