Ministries

“O God of all the nations of the earth:
Remember the multitudes who have been created in your image but have not known the redeeming work of our Savior Jesus Christ;
and grant that, by the prayers and labors of your holy Church,
they may be brought to know and worship you as you have been revealed in your Son;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”

At Church of the Resurrection we try to defy the 80/20 principle that only 20% of the congregation does approximately 80% of the work of the church.  We do this by encouraging every congregant to get involved in some service team or ministry. This means that the ministries are somewhat fluid, and new opportunities frequently arise.

Children

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mk 10.14

As a church, we work together to engage the hearts & minds of our children and nurture them in Christian discipleship. We provide a chapel ministry during part of the service for children 10 and under, including a Sunday school as well as nursery care. The nursery opens at 4:45 pm, and parents are asked to sign in their child and discuss any pertinent details with the nursery workers. Your child is welcome to stay in the nursery for the duration of the service, though many parents choose to pick their child up at the peace so that the family can share in the meal of Holy Communion together.

Families are also invited to join in a simple dinner following the service so that kids can get to bed shortly after returning home.

Children’s ministry at Rez is a subset of our discipleship ministries. We strive to be faithful in discipling and teaching the children that God entrusts to our congregation. Children’s ministry at Rez has a few guiding principles that you can read about here if you’re interested in knowing more.

Women

We believe that a strong sense of community and habits of living life together are essential ingredients in maintaining a culture of mature women who feel known by each other and ready to pursue spiritual growth, emotional maturity, and intentional, missional living together. To that end, the Church of the Resurrection’s Women’s Ministry coordinates social gatherings, retreats, teaching events, and supports other opportunities for women’s growth including Triads and the Friday morning Bible study hosted by RezMoms. A selection of helpful books for women’s small groups or personal study is available on the Recommended Reading page. A team of women also aid the pastors in praying for and providing pastoral care to Rez women.  Check out the church calendar for upcoming events.

Men

Men’s ministry at Church of the Resurrection is very active, with an emphasis on building lasting friendships.  We have a number of Triads, which are groups of three or four men who meet to encourage each other in their walks with Christ.  We strive for a culture where men feel comfortable sharing their victories and weaknesses with each other and helping other men as they grow in their faith. Our monthly gatherings are a great opportunity to get to know other men and build these friendships.  For example, some events include camping trips, breakfast and skeet shooting, the annual New Year’s Man Brunch, bowling, man-food and cards night, and fishing. To get involved – or just to make some friends – email Aaron Damiani or Cam Nunery, or see our calendar for upcoming events.

RezMoms

Rez Moms is a group devoted to supporting the women in our community as they grow through the joys and challenges of parenting. We host Friday morning Bible study that meets at Christ Our Shepherd every other week and includes snacks and onsite childcare (for a fee). While most of the women participating in the study attend Church of the Resurrection and have children, we are an open community and welcome anyone interested in discussions of the Word, the interests of women, and the needs of children. We also meet regularly for play dates at parks, museums, and in each other’s homes several Friday mornings a month.

Rez Moms uses a Yahoo group to share ideas, needs, prayers, and encouragement with one another. In addition to emails and announcements you will find a directory, calendar, and database of baby gear available for loan. To join the Yahoo group, email the moderator with a subscription request. Check out the church calendar for upcoming events or email Ashleigh Gallo with questions.
