The Vision of the Church of the Resurrection is to foster personal renewal and community transformation through shared faith in Jesus Christ. We are united by an astonishing claim: “Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.” As followers of Jesus, our lives have been changed by this good news, and our hope is to share it with the world.
We believe that a healthy church is two dimensional: vertical and horizontal. People experience reconciliation and peace with God vertically, which moves them to worship and serve Him. Horizontally, people build relationships and are moved to serve those around them. Churches often focus on one dimension to the exclusion of the other. We want to do both. Combined, you can picture the horizontal and vertical dimensions producing a cruciform vision for the city of Washington.
Church of the Resurrection joins with the Church of the Advent in Columbia Heights and the Church of the Ascension in Arlington, Virginia, to form RenewDC, a gospel centered church planting initiative. Our pastors and staff meet together weekly for prayer, mutual encouragement, strategy, and sharing of best practices. Our shared vision for RenewDC is that as God provides people and financial resources, we will continue to establish new churches throughout the Washington metropolitan area. RenewDC neighborhood churches focus on their specific communities while remaining a united family in Christ.
In our mission to advance the Kingdom of God in Washington, we partner with other local church that share our vision for renewal and transformation. These include Capitol Hill Baptist, Christ our Shepherd Church, Grace Presbyterian DC, National Community Church, and Washington Community Fellowship, with whom we collaborate in local ministry projects.
